A headless nail is the fastener you buy when the finished face has to stay clean. No head dot, no hammer mark, no filler. Furniture makers, door fitters and trim carpenters run on them, and the buying mistake is almost always the same: wrong length, wrong gauge, or wrong finish for the job. This is the short guide we give every buyer who emails us for headless nails, and we are taking the full range to the Canton Fair this October.
Why the Head Is Missing on Purpose
A brad nail is a thin nail with a head that is either tiny or gone. The headless version sinks flush or below the wood surface, so there is nothing to sand down and nothing to fill. That is the whole point: invisible fixing. If you are building furniture, fitting skirting, or finishing a door frame, you do not want a nail head on the surface, and a no head nail is how you avoid it.
Length: Match the Board Thickness
Our headless nails and brad nails run from 20mm to 180mm. The simple rule is that the nail should bite about two thirds of the way into the base board without poking out the far side.
Stocking the full 20-180mm range means one supplier covers every trim job, and the sizes a furniture factory uses are different from what a door workshop needs, so a full range saves you chasing two suppliers.
Gauge: Fine Enough Not to Split
Thin is the point of a brad nail. A fine gauge shank drives into hardwood and thin moulding without splitting the grain, which is why trim carpenters reach for them instead of common nails. When you order, ask for the wire gauge in the spec, not just the length. The right gauge is what stops cracked skirting and ruined moulding.
Finish: Bright, EG or HDG?
The finish decides how the nail behaves over time.
We supply all three, and the factory can mix finishes on one order, so you do not need to overpay for zinc you do not need or underbuy for the job you have.
Material: Q195 and Q235
Our headless nails are drawn from Q195 and Q235 low carbon steel wire. Q195 is softer, ideal for thin sections where you want easy driving. Q235 is a touch harder for sections that need more holding. Both drive cleanly with a diamond point and a consistent wire diameter, so a whole box behaves the same way.
What to Ask Your Supplier
Before the container order, ask four things:
1. What is the exact wire gauge, and is it consistent across the box?
2. What finishes can you mix on one order, bright, EG and HDG?
3. Do you stock the full 20-180mm range, or only a few sizes?
4. Can I get samples to drive into my own timber before production?
We answer all four the same day.
Meet Us at the Canton Fair, Two Weeks Away
The 140th Canton Fair (Autumn 2026) opens on October 15 and runs to October 19, at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, Guangzhou, China. We will be in the Hardware Hall, booth 13.1F39, with the full headless nails and brad nail range in hand, bright, EG and HDG side by side. Bring your moulding sample, feel the gauge, and walk away with a sample box and a quotation before the show ends.
We are Linyi Dabao hardware Products co., ltd, a nail factory in Linyi, Shandong, shipping headless nails and brad nails worldwide from Qingdao Port. Send us your board thickness and trim type, and we will quote the right gauge, length and finish the same week.
